About

Steve Kalvie is the founder of Kalvie, an evidence-based women's health platform. After a career building digital products at Alibaba and Syngenta, he turned to health tech after discovering how many breastfeeding moms were receiving outdated medical advice — particularly the old 'heat and massage' protocol for clogged ducts, which was updated by the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine in 2022.

Kalvie began as a research project: analyzing hundreds of Reddit threads, clinical guidelines, and patient stories to understand what moms actually experience at 3 AM when they can't reach a doctor. That research became the foundation for Kalvie's free guides, symptom checks, and IBCLC brand site network.

Background

  • Founder, Kalvie (2026–present) — Building evidence-based health tools and IBCLC brand sites
  • Director of Channel Digitalization, Syngenta Group (2021–2023) — Led digital transformation for 1M+ retailers across China
  • Senior Product Specialist, Alibaba Local Services (2019–2021) — Built merchant tools serving 1M+ small businesses

Approach to health content

Steve is not a medical professional. Kalvie's content is built on a simple principle: research deeply, cite everything, and let clinicians review. Every guide starts with current clinical guidelines (ABM, ACOG, CDC, ILCA), is cross-referenced with peer-reviewed research, and is reviewed by board-certified clinicians when available. When there's disagreement in the literature, Kalvie says so — instead of pretending there's one simple answer.

If you're a clinician interested in reviewing content or partnering with Kalvie, please get in touch.
